The B2 is a new generation of digital piano from KORG, focused on accessibility and ease of use. Perfect as a first piano for a new player, we've paid special attention to the experience of playing a traditional acoustic piano and packed the B2 with carefully-selected sounds and other great features.
KORG B2 and the KORG B2N are absolutely fantastic and affordable entry-level keyboards, at a price point of just under $1000 dollars. In this article we’ll be running through both of these incredible keyboards from KORG and why they may be the perfect fit for you.
If you’re just getting back into playing keyboard or perhaps even just starting out, there are very few keyboards that should be higher on your list than the B2 or the B2N from KORG. You’ve got powered speakers built-in and a headphone socket allowing you to play to your heart’s content without annoying your neighbours. A USB-out jack allows you to use the keyboard to record straight to your computer. Both KORGs feature an in-built metronome, adjustable volume controls and reverb effects.
Let’s start with the KORG B2. It’s a great keyboard with an excellent library of sounds on board, offering 12 specially selected tones to give you the essential tool kit you’d expect from an entry level keyboard. Included are beautiful, classic pianos (such as Italian- and American-made grand pianos), electric piano, harpsicord and even a few string and organ sounds to round out its offering. The KORG B2 offers easy interchange of instruments throughs simple up and down button selection, making it intuitive and easy for novice keyboard and piano players to get an understanding of how to find the sounds they are looking for. 15w in-built speakers will keep your audience happy.
Find a more authentic and beautiful sound using the sustain pedal, specifically designed for the B2 or B2N, and included with the KORG B2. You also can add the optional extra multi-pedal for an even higher level of control over your sound. Neither the KORG B2 nor the KORG B2N includes a stand, but both can be used with a large variety of stands – flat-top stands, cross-stands or even a dedicated furniture-style stand. It’s really quite versatile, so if you want to deck it out with a dream setup or just keep it simple, these KORGs will suit your plans. Software and a variety of connectors come standard for a truly modern piano experience.
For under a thousand dollars, this is really an ideal keyboard – a wonderful Christmas present for the beginner yet versatile enough for live performance too. The KORG B2 is a fully weighted keyboard that offers responsive touch and natural feel. It’s hard to believe there’s no hammer action. The B2N is its lightweight counterpart, featuring low wattage, and built-in speakers running just 9 watts of power. It is significantly lighter than the B2, so if you’re a younger player or want a keyboard that’s easier to move around the B2N might be exactly what you are looking for.
