Testimonial from Kate Grant – AMEB Queensland State Manager:
“An experienced and valued member of the AMEB Qld examining team for over five years, Sarah is dedicated to the candidates’ experience in the examination room. Sarah provides highly regarded and clearly written reports; carefully assessing the candidates’ performances as she sees and hears them on the day, against the required grading objectives of the AMEB Manual of Syllabus”
With a thorough knowledge of the AMEB string syllabus, Sarah offers practical preparation packages for Violin, Viola, Cello and Double Bass. Packages are structured around key elements of exam requirements including Pieces, Technical Work, Aurals, Sight Reading and General Knowledge.
Packages are designed to work in conjunction with existing teaching arrangements, offer a boost of support and sprinkle of sparkle for those students who could benefit from it.
Teachers, parents and examiners alike, share the aim for all students sitting an AMEB exam. We hope it will be a positive and rewarding experience, and for many it is. But there are always those who need more time, more help and support.
Sarah understands that the key to successfully sitting a practical exam lies within the preparation and comfort of the candidate. Drawing on a holistic approach of teaching music as a language, Sarah applies methods of listening, imitation and exploration to support candidates in their journey of problem solving and independent learning as they find their own artistic voices.
A warm and experienced examiner, Sarah creates a relaxed environment for students to build confidence and ownership throughout all areas of the exam process.
Drawing on her lived experience as a teacher and parent, she aims to support not only the candidate, but also teachers and parents with detailed supportive feedback and advice on performance anxiety strategy.
There are three types of packages:
Mock Exam (1 Hour Session)
Providing student’s the opportunity to run through the examination in order. Very helpful for those who suffer from nerves or performance anxiety.
Exam Bootcamp (4x 1 Hour Sessions)
Each session focusses on specific sections of the examination (Technical work, Pieces, and General Knowledge, Aurals, Sightreading). An opportunity to dig a little deeper. A great way to build confidence and improve results.
Full Exam Package (4x 1 Hour Sessions + Mock Exam)
Providing student’s a unique opportunity to present to their exam as prepared as they can be.
Sarah provides a relaxed studio environment at her home, alternatively she also offers zoom sessions. Detailed supportive feedback is also provided (pdf) on the completion of the package. Prices of packages start at $95.
