LR Baggs was started by woodworker Lloyd Baggs, who started guitar-making messing around in his garage with a guitar-making book and wood. His friend saw his ability and requested he make a guitar for him. It was then that his future in luthiery began taking shape. He then went on to do much researching and making better and more technical acoustic guitars as well as instruments such as violins.

From there, Baggs went on to develop amplification. Prayerfully stepping out in faith, he left his occupation in carsales to pursue his new business, leading him to become a world-class pickup, preamp and DI maufacturer.
